The creation of a sustainable endowment to fund a Bosnian orphanage is a noble and unique venture borne out of an understanding of high-level corporate finance. Thanks to the selfless generosity of our contributors, we have raised around £100,000 before we even launched the charity.
In a media-driven society, people tend to focus on the here and now, and that which a sub-editor deems newsworthy. Back in the mid-1990s, the plight of Bosnian orphans was front-page news. Today, it's international issues such as the Asian tsunami and African famine.
These are terrible catastrophes that must never be forgotten but, through it all, Bosnia's abandoned children have been largely neglected, even though their schools and hospitals remain under-resourced and their need for a place to call home as desperate as ever.
We hope you will help us bring a little light into the world of innocent children scarred by a war they couldn't possibly understand.
